George Niehaus
George plays a vintage B flat cornet in the 10th Cavalry band. Having grown up under the tutelage of some of Springfield's finest musicians, George went on to study music in the family tradition. George started playing trumpet at age seven and graduated from Sacred Heart - Griffin High School where he was the first chair trumpet all four years. Achieving his Associate of Arts in music at Springfield College in Illinois under Fred Greenwald, George went on to study at institutions such as University of Illinois in Champaign, IL and Millikin University in Decatur, IL. George went on to achieve a B.S. in business and now works in the field of Human Resources as the head of Human Resources for Kerber, Eck & Braeckel, LLP. Throughout his career in music, George has performed in all types of groups such as the Sangamon Valley Youth Symphony, jazz, symphonic and marching bands.

George stays active in his family's strong tradition of music through his participation in local musical ensembles and performances. Married to Susie Risser, George has two cats and a Chihuahua.
