Gary Gardner plays B flat cornet with the 10th Cavalry Band. He graduated from Pekin Community High School where he played principal trumpet under the direction of Lawrence Fogelberg. He studied trumpet at Western Illinois University where he received his Bachelor of Arts, then completed his Masters in Education at Olivet Nazarene University. He has been the director of bands at Carlinville Middle School and High School for 22 years. Previously he was director at Calhoun Unit #40 for 8 years. At present, Gary is a member of the Heartland Brass Band (E flat cornet,) Blackburn College/Community Band, and 3 municipal bands - Carlinville, Staunton, and the Gillespie/Benld/Mt Olive Municipal Band. Gary is married to Cheryl and has 2 sons, Greg and Doug. Gary plays a vintage sidewinder B flat cornet with the 10th Cavalry Band.
