Andy VanDerVoort
Andy has been a euphonium player for 40 years, and is also a regionally well
known actor and singer. He has performed many roles with Springfield Theatre Center,
the Lincoln Presidential Museum, Lincoln Community Theater, Theater in the Park
at New Salem, Jacksonville Theater Guild, and I.C. Theatreworks.
His talented wife and three daughters often appear onstage with him.
Instrumentally, he plays euphonium with the U.I.S. Concert Band,
the Capital Area Band, and the Heart of Illinois Brass Band, and
He plays electric bass with the U.I.S. Pep Band. Andy has Bachelors degrees
in both
vocal and instrumental music from Illinois State University, and a Masters
degree from U.I.S. He is a music teacher in the Springfield Public Schools.
In the 10th Cavalry Band, Andy plays a Bb Tenor
horn (valved trombone) used in the 1860's.
