About the Band:
The 10th Illinois
Volunteer Cavalry Band was formed shortly after the Regiment was mustered
in 1861 and was
one of the few Cavalry
Regiments to have its own 12 member band. The band was only one of several
that stayed with their respective Regiment throughout their length of
service.
Today's band members are music teachers, musicians, and citizens
from Central Illinois who enjoy providing music on original period instruments,
as it was played during the War of the Rebellion.
